Obio/Akpor LGA Chairman, Dr. Gift Worlu, has called for sustained peace in Rivers State, urging political leaders to prioritise development, security and the welfare of residents over conflict.
Worlu made the call while commending Governor Siminalayi Fubara for projects including the rehabilitation of the Nigerian Air Force Base runway and upgrades to healthcare facilities in Obio/Akpor.
He said the projects would boost security operations and improve access to quality healthcare, particularly mental health services.
Worlu also urged residents to stop stigmatising people seeking mental healthcare.
“Let Rivers State be in the news for development, not war. We are committed to the peace process,” he said.
