The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Rivers State has condemned the alleged rape of two underage girls by a Police officer identified as Salisu Kazeem.
Chairperson of FIDA in the state, Adata-Bio Briggs in a statement at the weekend called for thorough investigation into the matter.
She called on the Police authority to make the officer face the disciplinary committee of the command, after which he should be charged to court.
she noted that the offence of rape of a child is not something to be toyed with.
“We know that the Police has their own disciplinary measures. He should face that and also after facing that he should also face the court. You know that the offence of rape of a child is life imprisonment . Offence of rape is not something to be toyed with. Is something to be condemned .Owing to the fact that there is still issue of blackmail involved . Blackmail on its own is a big offence,” she said.
Meanwhile, the second teenage girl has revealed that she and her friend were both raped till morning by the officer after he accused them of stealing his money with his ATM card.
