The Rivers State Police Command has extended the deadline for enforcing regulations against commercial vehicles with unauthorised tinted glasses to October 31, 2026.
This was contained in a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adewole Adepoju.
The Command said the extension followed appeals from transport union leaders seeking additional time for affected operators to comply with the regulations.
It urged commercial vehicle operators to use the final grace period to remove unauthorised tinted glasses and regularise their vehicles.
The police warned that enforcement and sanctions would commence on November 1, 2026, against vehicles found violating the regulations.
The Commissioner of Police directed Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to ensure strict compliance and conduct thorough and lawful searches during enforcement operations, particularly where security concerns arise.
The Command cautioned police officers against using the exercise to extort or harass members of the public, warning that anyone found abusing the process would face appropriate disciplinary action.
It urged transport operators to obey traffic regulations and cooperate with the police in maintaining peace and security across Rivers State.
