The Rivers State Police Command confirms death of Sgt. L. Elekwachi – The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the death of Sgt. Lovender Elekwachi who was shot dead yesterday by Sergeant Bitrus Osaiah attached to the Rivers State Task Force on Decongestion.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the incident in a statement.
The late sergeant was shot dead while controlling traffic at Eneka axis of the state by Sergeant Bitrus Osaiah. The sergeant until her untimely death was serving at Eneka Division of the Nigeria Police Force.

Sergeant Bitrus and two members of the Task Force have so far been arrested, disarmed and undergoing trial. The corpse of the late sergeant has been deposited in the mortuary.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph G. Mukan, has ordered full investigation into the matter with a view to unraveling what led to the fracas. He appealed for calm while assuring that justice will be served.
