Wike Distributes Palliatives To Okrika – The Governor of Rivers state Governor Nyesom Wike has distributed food items to the people of Okrika Local Government Area. This is to cushion the effect of the lockdown order in the state occasioned by the COVID-19.
Chairman of the LGA, Philemon Iwolima confirmed this to news correspondents at the Council’s headquarters yesterday.
Iwolima while receiving the foodstuffs from the state palliatives committee, commended the state government for the kind gesture towards the people of the LGA.
He also praised Gov. Wike for the proactive measures taken so far to curb the spread of the virus in the state.
The items which includes bags of rice, beans, garri, yams, and noodles and were distributed to representatives of the different communities.
The chairman urged the leaders to ensure even distribution of the items to the poor and vulnerable in the LGA.
In his remark, Chairman of Okirika Divisional Council of Chiefs, Chief Dere while supervising the distribution, commended the state government for its benevolence.
