The Rivers State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a notorious one-chance robbery syndicate as part of its ongoing crackdown on criminal gangs operating across the state.
The Command said the arrests were made by its operatives following directives from the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, CP Olugbenga Adewole Adepoju, as part of intelligence-led operations targeting one-chance operators.
The suspects were identified as Uche Samuel, 45, from Omunato Local Government Area of Imo State, and Nkechi Amadi, 42, from Nekede, Imo State.
According to the Police, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime during interrogation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate.
The Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to eliminating one-chance operators and other violent criminals from Rivers State, warning that there would be no hiding place for criminal elements.
He said the Command would continue to deploy intelligence-driven policing and proactive strategies to identify, arrest and prosecute offenders.
Adepoju also assured residents of the Command’s resolve to protect lives and property, urging members of the public to remain vigilant and provide credible, timely information to assist the Police in preventing crime and bringing criminals to justice.
