The Rivers State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Samuel Donatus, has announced plans for a solidarity rally to highlight the increasing security challenges confronting schools across Nigeria.
Speaking in response to the recent abduction of teachers and pupils in Oyo State, Donatus stressed that the protection of educators and learners must remain a national priority. He noted that any attack on teachers or students has far-reaching consequences for the entire education sector.
The NUT chairman urged the government and security agencies to take immediate and decisive action to strengthen security around schools, ensuring that teachers and students can carry out teaching and learning activities in a safe environment.
