The Rivers State chapter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has held a strategic meeting with members of the State Executive Committee as part of preparations for the party’s forthcoming primary elections and the 2027 general elections.
Speaking after the meeting held at the party’s state secretariat along Aba Road in Port Harcourt, the State Chairman of the party, Onisofien Success Jack, said discussions centered on strengthening the party’s structure and improving coordination across all levels of the organization.
He said a major aspect of the deliberations focused on the constitution of committees that would oversee the screening of aspirants for the upcoming primaries, stressing that the process would be guided by transparency, fairness, accountability, and credibility.
According to him, the party leadership is committed to ensuring integrity in its internal processes in order to build confidence among members and supporters.
The chairman also emphasized the need for intensified grassroots mobilization, noting that the party must deepen its presence across communities, wards, clans, local government areas, and support groups throughout the state.
He stated that the responsibility of expanding the party should not rest on a few individuals alone, but requires collective commitment and coordination from all stakeholders within the party structure.
The meeting also discussed the sensitization of the party’s logo, identity, values, and mission across Rivers State, with members urged to properly represent the ideals of the party and educate residents at the grassroots level.
On leadership coordination, Success Jack said discussions were held on strengthening communication and unity between the national leadership, state executives, local government officials, and ward coordinators to ensure effective implementation of party directives.
