Five persons including the manager of a brothel at the Wimpey axis of Port Harcourt, have been arrested for allegedly exploiting underage girls for prostitution.
Chairperson of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking Persons in Rivers State, Nwamaka Ikedia made this know in a chat with journalists in Port Harcourt, Today.
She said the underage girls were rescued after it carried out surveillance, concerning the illegal activity in the brothel.
She noted that the victims were working for the arrested persons who were collecting the money.
Nwamaka, explained that the girls will be taken for rehabilitation and be reunited with their families, later on.
She also called on members of the public to report such illegal activity to relevant agencies.
Meanwhile, the suspects denied the allegations, adding that the victims are not underage girls.
