The Rivers State Commissioner of Police – Olatunji Disu has called for stronger collaboration between the Police and the media to effectively fight crime in the state.
Olatunji Disu made the call when he visited the office of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
According to him, the media being a government on its own is needed to effectively fight crime and criminality, and promised to work with all relevant stakeholders in fighting insecurity in the state.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the NUJ in the state, Stanley Job Stanley in his speech commended the efforts of the Police in fighting crime in the state. He, however added that the Police still has a lot to do.
He also commended the CP for announcing that members of the public are free to record Police officers on duty.
