Two suspects, Mohammed Tijani and Vincent Orlu accused of stealing two manhole covers at NTA road, have been remanded at the Degema Correctional Centre by a Chief Magistrate court in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Vincent, was arrested for allegedly stealing and selling the covers worth N800,000 to Tijani last month.
The trial judge, Isaac Agbeso adjourned the matter to January 8 and 15 for hearing of their bail application.
You would recall that residents of the state had complained of the disappearance of manhole covers across major roads.
The chairman of Port Harcourt City, Allwell Ihunda had also in a statement said over 350 manhole covers had been stolen in the city.
