A lecturer with the University of Port Harcourt, Lawrence Chuku has said that lack of personnel and infrastructure are two of the major problems affecting the education sector in Rivers State.
Chuku, during an interview yesterday said the education sector has been neglected by the current administration.
He said schools in the state lack teachers and that it has led to the closure of many.
He also explained that the state loses about four hundred million naira Tertiary Education Trust Fund due to the absence of a College of Education.
The educationist, called on the Rivers State Government to establish a College of Education for the training of teachers.
He urged the Wike-led administration to employ teachers in schools, as there are so many of them seeking employment.
