The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has stated that its constitution allows individuals to join the party at any time.
Speaking on Nigeria Info FM’s Morning Crossfire, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Chibuike Ikenga addressed concerns surrounding the defection of federal lawmaker, Okey Chinda from the PDP to the APC.
Ikenga explained that aspirants seeking elective positions after joining the party are expected to secure a waiver from the party leadership, noting that the required waiver was duly granted to Chinda.
He also advised aspirants unhappy with the outcome of the party’s screening exercise to channel their grievances through the appeal process instead of attacking the party in the media.
The APC spokesman further warned against the circulation of false information, emphasizing that all official party publications, including screening results, reflect the authentic position and decisions of the party leadership.
