An aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Asari-Toru Constituency 1 seat in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Tonye George, has denied allegations of attempting to bribe members of the party’s screening committee.
The screening committee had alleged that the aspirant attempted to influence the screening process by handing over an envelope containing money alongside his certificates to members of the committee.
Reacting to the allegation, George described the claim as false, insisting that he is a law-abiding citizen who does not engage in bribery or any form of misconduct.
He challenged the committee to provide evidence to back its allegation, maintaining that he conducted himself properly throughout the screening exercise.
George further disclosed that his lawyers are already handling the matter and would take the necessary legal steps regarding the allegation.
