Rhapsody of Realities 11 October 2026: Righteousness Apart From the Law
SCRIPTURE: But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets (Romans 3:21).
Many have read Paul’s words in Romans chapter three and concluded that no one can be righteous before God. They quote what’s written in the 10th verse, “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one,” and assume that’s God’s present description of all men. But if you carefully follow Paul’s argument, you’ll discover that he wasn’t addressing those in Christ. He was speaking to those who were under the Law.
The Jews believed they had an advantage because they had the Law, while the Gentiles were regarded as outsiders, estranged from the covenants of promise. But Paul argued that having the Law didn’t make anyone righteous. If righteousness came through the Law, then every requirement of the Law had to be fulfilled perfectly. Yet, the very Law they trusted testified against them. It declared, “There is none righteous, no, not one” (Psalm 14:3).
Paul quoted the Law extensively and then drew a powerful conclusion: “Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law…” (Romans 3:19). The Law exposed sin and rendered the whole world guilty before God, as Paul further explained, “…by the law is the knowledge of sin” (Romans 3:20).
The Law revealed man’s condition, his sin-nature, but it couldn’t produce righteousness. Then came the new order, one of the most glorious transitions in Scripture: the revelation of God’s righteousness apart from the Law as read in our opening scripture. This righteousness isn’t earned by works or by keeping the requirements of the Law. It’s God’s own righteousness, revealed and bestowed through faith in Jesus Christ.
Now that you’re born again, you’ve been justified freely by His grace. You’re not struggling to become righteous. The righteousness that the Law could never produce has been imparted to you as a gift through Jesus Christ (Romans 5:17). He’s been made your righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21). Blessed be God! Therefore, see yourself as God sees you: holy, accepted, sanctified, and justified in Christ Jesus.
PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for revealing your righteousness through Jesus Christ, making Him to be sin for us that we might be made righteous. I walk in the consciousness of my justification and oneness with you. I live victoriously today, free from condemnation and fully established in your righteousness, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Romans 5:1
5 Therefore, since we are justified (acquitted, declared righteous, and given a right standing with God) through faith, let us [grasp the fact that we] have [the peace of reconciliation to hold and to enjoy] peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).
Philippians 3:9
9 And that I may [actually] be found and known as in Him, not having any [self-achieved] righteousness that can be called my own, based on my obedience to the Law’s demands (ritualistic uprightness and supposed right standing with God thus acquired), but possessing that [genuine righteousness] which comes through faith in Christ (the Anointed One), the [truly] right standing with God, which comes from God by [saving] faith.
2 Corinthians 5:21
21 For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].
