Residents Doctors at both the University of Port Harcourt and the Rivers State University today joined their counterparts across the country in the industrial action.
Chairman of Residents Doctors at the UPTH confirmed to our correspondent that except their demands are met which ranges from staff welfare and payment of COVID-19 allowances they will not down tools.
Our correspondent who visited the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital reports of skeletal activities going on as consultants were seen on ground attending to patients.
Also briefing journalists at the end of the emergency meeting, Dr George Ella lamented the failure of the Rivers State Government to address need of the residents doctors.
He said despite the sacrifices made by the doctors by not joining the previous strike, the resident doctors were never appreciated adding that the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital branch of the Association has decided to align with the national body in the on-going strike.
