The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC says punishment for vote buying during next year’s election is one-year imprisonment or a fine of N500,000.

INEC Commissioner in Jigawa State, Professor Muhammad Lawal Bashir said this on Monday.

According to him, INEC is prepared to conduct all the elections with the BVAS machine to ensure a free and fair and credible poll.

He said the machine will Identity voters who have registered more than once, and that they will not be able to vote.

”The machine will identify voters going to vote and those who have registered more than once will not be able to vote,” he said.

He urged those yet to collect their Permanent Voters Card to do so before the deadline.
