The Presidency has stated that social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse may face prosecution for circulating an alleged fake audio clip linked to President Bola Tinubu.

The controversy followed a post by X user @Pious_minister, which highlighted a video by VDM containing what was described as an AI-generated audio purportedly mimicking Tinubu’s voice.

In the audio, the voice allegedly claimed that insecurity in Nigeria would persist because Nigerians did not vote for Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election.

Reacting on Wednesday, presidential media aide Bayo Onanuga condemned the development, insisting that VDM should face legal consequences for sharing the clip.

According to Onanuga, disseminating the alleged fake audio amounts to a serious misuse of social media platforms and should not go unpunished.
