A popular Nnewi-based native doctor, Ikechukwu Ezenagu, widely known as “Mmuo Mmili Afulu Anya,” reportedly collapsed during court proceedings, prompting an abrupt halt to his arraignment.
The incident occurred on Friday, April 24, at the Anambra State High Court sitting in Awka, where Ezenagu was scheduled to take his plea.
According to reports, the native doctor’s sudden health condition made it impossible for the proceedings to continue. The presiding judge, Justice Jude Obiora, subsequently ruled that the defendant was unfit to stand trial due to his deteriorating health.
As a result, the court adjourned the case to June 3, 2026, to allow time for his recovery.
The development has sparked widespread reactions, especially following the emergence of a video showing the native doctor in a frail condition, further intensifying public interest in the case.
