The Rivers State Police Command has successfully rescued a kidnap victim and apprehended three suspected kidnappers during a recent operation in the state.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Agabe Blessing, the arrests are linked to the earlier abduction of Chukwudekwu Emmanuel, a Lagos-based resident who was kidnapped on February 17, 2026, in Etche Local Government Area.
Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives stationed in Emohua carried out a coordinated raid on April 14, leading to the arrest of three suspects identified as 38-year-old Chinedu Okoro, 32-year-old Okwudiri Njoku, and 25-year-old Onyema Sunday.
Investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly specialise in targeting victims through social media platforms, including Tinder, where they impersonate prominent individuals to gain trust and lure victims.
The police disclosed that the suspects were arrested while attempting to abduct another victim, Chisom Nwokolo George, who had been invited from Anambra State under the guise of an interior decoration job.
During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to multiple kidnapping incidents, including the abduction of Jennifer Nnaji from Enugu State on March 1, 2026, as well as another victim, Lakan Ayodele, from Lagos State.
An operational motorcycle believed to have been used in their criminal activities was recovered. Authorities say efforts are ongoing to apprehend the gang leader and other members still at large.
