Authorities have launched an investigation into an alleged newborn trafficking operation following a raid on a private medical facility in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The facility, identified as Eldona Clinic, was reportedly raided by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department’s Special Tactical Squad on June 12, 2026, over allegations of illegal child trafficking.
According to reports, the clinic’s Chief Medical Director, Dr. Elizabeth Obot, is accused of deceiving mothers into believing their babies had died before allegedly trafficking the newborns.
During the operation, investigators reportedly discovered the embalmed body of an infant in the doctor’s office. Authorities suspect it may have been used to mislead grieving mothers or facilitate alleged fake pregnancy schemes.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and are exploring the possibility that the clinic was part of a larger trafficking network. Members of the public who may have patronized the facility or possess relevant information have been urged to cooperate with investigators.
The allegations have triggered public outrage, with many demanding a thorough investigation and justice for any victims affected by the alleged scheme.
Security agencies say efforts are continuing to uncover the full extent of the operation and identify all individuals connected to the case.
