The Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth development, declaring that empowering young people remains a key priority of his government.
Pepple made the statement on Saturday during the presentation of empowerment items under the N20 million Youth Empowerment Programme organised by Bonny Youth 360, an online community led by Redd Awanta.
The initiative, fully funded by the Bonny Local Government Council, was designed to support entrepreneurship and promote economic self-reliance among young people in the area.
More than 100 youths from across Bonny LGA benefited from the programme, receiving various business support items aimed at boosting their enterprises. The items distributed included 20 deep freezers, 15 sewing machines, 23 Point-of-Sale (POS) machines, 10 wig-making machines, and other equipment intended to enhance business productivity and sustainability.
Speaking at the event, Pepple commended Bonny Youth 360 for what he described as the successful delivery of the programme, noting that the initiative aligns with the council’s vision of creating opportunities for young entrepreneurs to thrive.
The council chairman also announced an increase in funding for the empowerment programme, raising the allocation from N20 million to N25 million for the 2027 edition.
He urged beneficiaries to make effective use of the items provided to expand their businesses and contribute to the economic development of the local government area.
