The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 13 suspected cultists during a foiled initiation ceremony in Eleme Local Government Area.
The Command’s spokesperson, Blessing Agabe, disclosed this in a statement, noting that the operation was carried out in the early hours of Sunday.
The suspects were apprehended in a forest located between Alode and Onne, where the initiation was reportedly taking place.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, an eyewitness, identified as Lene, said about 100 young men had assembled at the site for the ritual.
He explained that police operatives stormed the area while the initiation exercise was ongoing, leading to the arrest of several participants.
