Six protesting workers of Julius Berger Company at the Bonny-Bodo NLNG project, have been reportedly shot and injured by the officers of the Rivers State Police Command.
The workers on Monday took to the streets to protest against what they described as poor salaries and welfare packages.
Some of the workers in a chat with our correspondent, said the peaceful protest was disrupted by security personnel who shot and injured six of them.
They accused their project manager of inviting the security personnel to disperse them.
The injured workers were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile the Rivers State Police Command is yet to react to the allegation. Efforts to reach spokesperson of the command, Nnamdi Omoni proved abortive.
