The Chairmen of Emouha, Akuku-Toru, Asari-Toru and Degema Local Government Areas, have agreed to form a joint vigilante group to end the spate of crime and criminality along the Trans-Kalabari Road that cuts across the four LGA’s.
Chairman of Emouha LGA, Chidi Lloyd made this known shortly after they met on Monday.
He said the vigilante group will patrol the road on a daily basis to ensure the protection of workers and road users.
He also said they agreed that the security meeting of the four Local government areas will be rotational.
This is coming days after an expatriate with Lubrik Construction Company, working on the Trans Kalabari Road was kidnapped by unknown gunmen.
Governor Nyesom Wike had in a statement directed local government chairmen, traditional rulers and community leaders to ensure the protection of construction workers, in their respective areas.
