The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Plc (PHED) has urged residents within its franchise area to observe safety precautions during the rainy season to prevent accidents associated with electricity.
In a public safety advisory, the electricity distribution company warned members of the public to avoid contact with fallen power lines, stressing that such installations should be treated as live and dangerous.
PHED also advised residents to stay away from damaged electricity poles and flooded electrical installations, noting that such facilities could pose serious risks of electrocution.
The company further called on customers to report electrical faults, including fallen poles, snapped wires and other electricity-related emergencies immediately to enable prompt response by its technical team.
