The news of his passing was announced in a post shared on his Instagram page, featuring his photograph alongside the caption, “Rest in peace, legend.”

Okoye, who was a professor in the Department of Theatre Arts and Film Studies at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State, was widely recognised for his roles in traditional-themed movies.
