Forum of Ogoni Elders known as Gbo Kabaari Ogoni, has raised alarm over what they described as invasion of their lands by heavily armed Fulani herdsmen.
The group, in a message through its Chairman, Chief Monday Abueh to security agencies said armed herdsmen have been invading their farmlands to destroy crops and farm produce.
He said the act is seriously posing threats to peace and food security, adding that the menace if not checked may lead to serious destruction of lives and properties.
He also stated that in the past, heavily armed Fulani herdsmen have occupied vast farmlands under cultivation in different parts of Ogoni land.
He urged the relevant agencies to protect the lives and properties of people of the area, as he called for the immediate evacuation of the herdsmen and cows from their farmlands.
“The lives and livelihoods of our people must not be sacrificed for cows,” he said.
Abueh also alleged that the herdsmen have been going about boasting that they are protected by security operatives.
