The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Rivers State Council, has appealed to the Rivers State Government to urgently employ personnel in government-owned media organisations to address the severe shortage of workers resulting from the retirement of many experienced staff.
The Union noted that the ongoing manpower gap has negatively impacted the efficiency and productivity of state-owned media houses, adding that immediate recruitment would enhance information dissemination and improve service delivery.
The appeal was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the Union’s State Congress held recently at the Ernest Ikoli Press Centre in Port Harcourt.
