Legal practitioner and political commentator, Deji Adeyanju, has expressed strong reservations over the recent reconciliation between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara.
In a statement released on Friday, Adeyanju questioned the sincerity and sustainability of the peace deal between the two political rivals, describing Wike as a difficult and unpredictable political figure. He warned that the Rivers governor may face continued political instability despite the truce.
“No matter the kind of agreement reached with Wike, he has a reputation for making things extremely difficult for his political allies,” Adeyanju said. “Governor Fubara may not find peace even after this reconciliation, and the political atmosphere in 2027 could be even more turbulent.”
He further remarked that Wike’s commitments cannot be trusted, likening them to an empty promise, and suggested that any truce involving the former Rivers governor should be approached with caution.
The comments come amid ongoing concerns about the fragile political relationship in Rivers State, despite recent public gestures aimed at restoring peace between the camps of the two leaders.
