The Nigeria Police Force has honoured the Amanyanabo of Okochiri Kingdom, King Ateke Michael Tom, for his contributions to the fight against cultism and other social vices during the relaunch of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) in Port Harcourt.
The sensitisation programme, held at the Police Officers’ Mess, was themed “Dangers of Cultism, Other Social Vices and Their Adverse Effects.”
King Ateke, represented by Chief Ogan, was commended for his role in curbing cultism, rehabilitating affected youths and promoting peace in communities.
In his reaction, the monarch thanked the Nigeria Police for the recognition and pledged to sustain efforts towards tackling cultism and other social vices among youths.
POCACOV is the Nigeria Police Force’s flagship preventive policing initiative, which uses advocacy, education, community engagement and strategic partnerships to combat cultism and other social vices through a community policing approach. Since its inception, the programme has partnered with key stakeholders nationwide to prevent crime through awareness, mentorship, vocational empowerment and youth-focused interventions.
