The newly appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Everest Okoro, has visited Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, at Government House, Port Harcourt.
During the visit, Fubara pledged continued support for the Army and other security agencies to protect critical infrastructure and tackle criminal activities in the state.
The governor called for stronger collaboration among security agencies, government and communities to address threats including pipeline vandalism and cult-related violence.
Okoro thanked Fubara for his support and described Rivers as strategically important to the Niger Delta and Nigeria because of its oil and gas resources and critical infrastructure.
He pledged to prioritise the protection of lives and property, while calling for improved intelligence sharing and community engagement to sustain peace in the state.
