The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Rivers State Post-2025 Flood Relief Intervention Beneficiary Enumeration Team have completed the enumeration of persons affected by the 2025 flood disaster across 13 Local Government Areas of Rivers State.
The exercise was undertaken to identify and document flood-affected persons who would benefit from NEMA’s post-flood relief intervention.
Presenting the report to the Rivers State Government at the Government House, Port Harcourt, on Monday, September 14, 2026, NEMA Coordinator, Dr. Chidi Ogundu, said the team considered it necessary to formally submit the report to the State Government for its records and further action.
Ogundu thanked the State Deputy Governor, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, for the support extended to the team following its inauguration, adding that the assignment was successfully completed within the stipulated timeframe.
Receiving the report on behalf of the State Government and the Rivers State Flood Prevention and Management Committee, Prof. Odu commended NEMA and members of the enumeration team for their dedication and commitment to the exercise.
She described the report as comprehensive, noting that it covered the 13 Local Government Areas identified by NEMA, and expressed optimism that the findings would attract further intervention from the Federal Government for flood victims in the State.
The Deputy Governor also commended the collaboration between NEMA and the State Government, stressing that effective synergy between the Federal and State Governments would produce greater results in responding to disasters.
Prof. Odu assured the team of the State Government’s continued support and willingness to collaborate on subsequent flood intervention programmes.
She further praised the leadership of the team for ensuring the successful completion of the enumeration exercise within the stipulated period.
