The Niger Delta Development Commission
[NDDC] in collaboration with Federal Government of Nigeria and the International Fund for Agricultural Development [IFAD] are in the process of commencing the implementation of the Livelihood Improvement Family Enterprises [LIFE-ND] project across three Niger Delta states of Akwa lbom, Imo and Rivers for the next six years.
The Commission said the LIFE-ND project is an initiative of the FGN aimed at improving the livelihood and living condition of at least 38,250 rural women and youths in the Nine states of the Niger Delta Region.
It also that in the last five years, implementation has been on-going across the other six IFAD-funded states of Abia, Bayelsa, Cross Rivers, Delta, Edo and Ondo. In fulfilment of her financial obligations in the sum of USD 30 million towards this robust partnership, the NDDC recently made part payment towards meeting up this obligation; which has enabled these three NDDC-funded states come on board.
The LIFE-ND project launch therefore, is to flag-off this noble partnership aimed at producing at least 12,750 agri-entrepreneur primary beneficiaries across 300 communities in the three NDDC-funded states of Akwa Ibom, Imo and Rivers, the commission said.
