The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has extended the deadline for the collection of Expression of Interest Forms for aspirants seeking to contest State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and Governorship positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement signed by the party’s National Secretary, Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu Esq., the party said the deadline, which was earlier scheduled to end at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2026, has now been extended to 12:00 midnight on Sunday, May 24, 2026.

The party, however, announced that the collection of Expression of Interest Forms for the Office of the President has officially closed.

According to the statement, screening of aspirants who have purchased and completed the Expression of Interest Forms commenced on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, and will end on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

The NDC also disclosed that the collection and return of Nomination Forms for screened and cleared aspirants will begin on Wednesday, May 20, and close on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

The party urged all aspirants to strictly comply with the stipulated deadlines, stressing that no further extension would be granted after the new closing date.

Aspirants are expected to appear for screening and pre-qualification interviews at designated venues across the country with relevant documents, including educational certificates, birth certificate or declaration of age, four recent passport photographs, voter’s identification card, NDC membership card, and copies of their curriculum vitae.

The statement added that all submitted documents must be provided in six copies each.
The party said screening would be based on several factors, including the wishes of the electorate, local peculiarities, capacity and competence of aspirants, as well as character.

The Screening Committee was also directed to take note of the party’s affirmative action policy for women, youths, and persons living with disabilities.

The NDC further encouraged aspirants to pursue consensus-building, noting that only aspirants cleared by the Screening Committee would be eligible to purchase Nomination Forms.
