Channels Television has been suspended by the National Broadcasting Commission, with a fine of N5 million, for interviewing a leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra.
Director General of the Commission, Prof. Armstrong Idachaba, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
The NBC, accused the station of allowing a leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra, IPOB, Emma Powerful to make secessionist and inciting declarations on air without cautioning or reprimanding him.
NBC also accused the station of allowing its guest to make false and misleading statements about the Nigerian Army, despite being an outlawed group.
Emma Powerful, Spokesperson of the group, during an interview with Channels on Sunday, threatened to unleash mayhem on Nigerian security agencies for allegedly killing some of its members.
