The father of the young man allegedly shot by a police officer at Agip along Ada-George Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has denied reports portraying his son as a fraudster, popularly known as a “Yahoo Boy.”
Hon. Princewill Obodo, in a statement, urged members of the public to disregard reports allegedly linking his son to internet fraud, describing him as a responsible young man.
The incident reportedly followed an alleged confrontation between a police officer and the young man which resulted in the death of three other persons.
According to eyewitnesses, the officer allegedly attempted to extort the motorist, who reportedly sped off. The officer was said to have fired shots at the vehicle as it drove away.
The motorist reportedly lost control of the vehicle while attempting to escape and crashed into three people, who allegedly died at the scene.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting and crash remain unclear, while relevant authorities were yet to officially react to the incident as of press time.
