A political associate of Peter Obi, Ibrahim Abdulkarim, has claimed that former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso has agreed to serve as Obi’s running mate in the 2027 presidential election.
Abdulkarim made this known in a statement, noting that both camps have already reached an understanding on a joint ticket.
According to him, supporters of both political figures — the Obidient Movement and the Kwankwassiyya Movement — are aware of the arrangement and are already aligning in anticipation of the proposed Obi/Kwankwaso ticket.
“ Yes, I can categorically tell you that they have agreed,” Abdulkarim said, adding that the development is widely known among members of both groups.
Kwankwaso’s recent defection from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has further fueled speculation about a possible alliance between the two politicians ahead of the 2027 polls.
The reported agreement, if confirmed by the principals, could signal a significant realignment in Nigeria’s political landscape as preparations gradually begin for the next general election cycle.
