The Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, has dismissed reports of a disagreement between him and the State House of Assembly over the 2026 Appropriation Bill.
The governor, in a statement issued on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi, said he was not at loggerheads with the lawmakers, insisting that he was working closely with the Assembly to advance the interests of Rivers residents.
According to the statement, the 2026 budget proposal has already been presented to the House of Assembly and is currently undergoing the normal legislative process.
The governor expressed confidence that the budget would be passed by the lawmakers upon completion of the legislative procedures.
It said Rivers State had experienced difficult times in the past and was not willing to be drawn into another round of controversies.
The governor consequently urged individuals promoting what it described as “negative narratives” to desist, stressing that peace and harmony remained essential for sustained development in the state.
The statement read in part: “We wish to make it abundantly clear that His Excellency, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, is not at loggerheads with members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, but rather working closely with them to serve the good people of Rivers State.”
