Nigeria’s electoral umpire the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it may use electronic voting in the Anambra governorship election next year.
Chairman of the commission, Mahmood Yakubu disclosed this in a statement yesterday after a meeting with the House of Representatives committee on INEC.
“…we are determined that we are going to deploy electronic voting machines, electronic balloting machines very soon in our elections.
“Possibly beginning with the Anambra governorship election next year,” Mahmood stated.
He also noted that the commission is committed to ensuring the conduction of free and fair elections and examining measures to better the process.
