The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced plans to make the Preliminary Register of Voters for the 2027 General Election available online to expand public access to the register.
The Chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC), Mohammed Kudu Haruna, disclosed this in a press statement issued on Monday, October 26, 2026.
According to the commission, the decision follows concerns raised by Nigerians and other stakeholders over the need to make the register accessible online in addition to the physical display already conducted nationwide.
INEC said the physical display of the Preliminary Register of Voters took place at Registration Areas across the country from October 9 to 15, 2026, in accordance with Section 19 of the Electoral Act, 2026.
The exercise provided registered voters with the opportunity to inspect their particulars and submit claims and objections as provided by law.
The commission explained that the same preliminary register previously displayed at Registration Areas would now be accessible through its online platform at https://display.inecnigeria.org.
It added that the online publication was intended to complement the physical exercise and facilitate wider public access to the register as part of efforts to promote transparency and public confidence in the electoral process.
INEC further stated that it was continuing to process claims and objections arising from the exercise ahead of the certification and publication of the Final Register of Voters on December 15, 2026.
The commission appreciated the continued interest and constructive engagement of Nigerians and other stakeholders, reiterating its commitment to transparency, accountability and the implementation of the Electoral Act, 2026, to deliver credible elections.
