The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Rivers State, has trained its staff on the Collation Support and Verification System (CSRVS) as part of efforts to strengthen electoral processes ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
The state-level training, held at the INEC Media Centre, State Office, was designed to equip technical and administrative personnel with the operational skills required to ensure effective verification, data integrity and escalation management before, during and after electoral collation.
Speaking at the opening session, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Johnson Alalibo Sinikiem, who was accompanied by the Administrative Secretary, Dr. (Mrs.) Angela Ebhodaghe, and heads of departments, charged participants to demonstrate competence, vigilance and strict adherence to technical procedures in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Sinikiem described the trainees as critical stakeholders in the electoral process, stressing that their performance would be vital to establishing a credible and reliable collation process for the 2027 General Elections.
He urged participants to take the training seriously and ensure that the knowledge acquired would translate into effective performance during electoral operations.
The training was facilitated by resource persons from INEC headquarters, Elizabeth Atte and Mike Oyoko, who led intensive sessions on the operational responsibilities of CSRVS officers across three distinct phases of electoral collation.
The sessions focused on equipping participants with the technical and administrative competencies required to manage verification processes, safeguard the integrity of collation activities and ensure the timely escalation of issues throughout the electoral process.
The exercise forms part of INEC’s preparations for the 2027 General Elections, with emphasis on strengthening staff capacity and improving the reliability of electoral collation procedures.
