Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that he will never support Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma to become Senate President.
Wike made the statement on Monday during his appearance on TVC’s Journalists’ Hangout programme, questioning Uzodimma’s reported ambition to leave office and contest for the Senate ahead of the expiration of his tenure in January 2028.
“This man’s office will expire in January 2028. Now, he wants to leave his office to run for Senate. I will never support a character of Hope Uzodimma to be Senate President of Nigeria,” Wike said.
Wike and the Progressive Governors, led by Uzodimma, have been trading words over the FCT minister’s Rainbow Coalition, which the governors say could undermine the chances of some party candidates in next year’s elections.
