The Ikwerre Local Government Council Bursary Committee has called on eligible indigenes of the area studying in tertiary institutions to obtain bursary forms and participate in a physical verification exercise at the council secretariat in Isiokpo.
Chairman of the Bursary Committee and Secretary to the Council, Godknows Amadi, said the exercise will begin daily at 9:00 a.m. according to a schedule for various institutions.
Students of Rivers State University and Ignatius Ajuru University of Education are expected on July 9 and 10, while those of the University of Port Harcourt and the Federal University of Environment and Technology will be verified on July 13 and 14.
Students of Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Port Harcourt, and Kenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori, have been scheduled for July 15 and 16, while those of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Omoku, and Madonna University, Elele, will appear on July 20 and 21.
Students of Schools of Health and tertiary institutions outside Rivers State are expected on July 22 and 23.
Applicants are required to present the originals and two photocopies of their local government identification letter, admission letter, latest school fees receipt, school identity card, matriculation number, two recent passport photographs, and a valid means of identification, including a voter’s card. The committee stressed that all applicants must appear in person, adding that incomplete documentation will not be accepted.
The committee also reiterated that the verification exercise is free of charge and advised applicants not to pay anyone. It added that details of the online verification and school visitation schedule will be announced later.
