The Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has instructed Commissioners of Police and tactical units across the country to step up enforcement against vehicles operating without number plates.
The directive was issued on Tuesday during a strategic meeting with senior police officers. He raised alarm over the increasing cases of motorists driving without visible registration numbers or deliberately concealing their plates on public roads.
According to him, the practice is a serious security risk and will no longer be tolerated, warning that such violations undermine public safety and national security efforts.
