Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has dismissed recent criticisms by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, saying he does not respond to his subordinates.
Amaechi made the remark while speaking on Politics Today on Channels Television, in reaction to comments made by Wike during a recent media chat.
Wike had described Amaechi as a political liability, claiming the former Rivers State governor had not won any election in the state since 2011. He also alleged that Amaechi was selected as a vice-presidential candidate by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar because of his financial strength rather than his political influence.
The FCT minister further accused Amaechi of playing a role in the removal of former President Goodluck Jonathan, arguing that the South-South region should be pursuing the presidency rather than the vice presidency.
Responding to the allegations, Amaechi said he would not engage in a public exchange with Wike, maintaining that he does not respond to his subordinates.
“I don’t respond to my subordinates. I was never hired by Wike,” Amaechi said during the television programme.
