The Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Hon. Abinye Blessing Pepple, has approved the disbursement of ₦15 million to sponsor indigenous legal practitioners from Bonny to participate in the 2026 Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt.
The conference is scheduled to hold from August 21 to 28, 2026.
According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Bonny Local Government Council, Amb. Wisdom Chapp-Jumbo, the sponsorship will also support the Bonny Lawyers’ Heritage Night, a cultural and networking event designed to promote the Ibani heritage while strengthening professional ties among Bonny legal practitioners.
Speaking on the initiative, Pepple said the sponsorship underscores his administration’s commitment to building the capacity of indigenous professionals and supporting institutions that contribute to the development of Bonny Kingdom.
He noted that the intervention was aimed at encouraging excellence in the legal profession and increasing the participation of Bonny lawyers in national legal engagements.
Responding on behalf of the Bonny Lawyers Forum, the Forum’s Chairman, Elder Pepple Victor, thanked the council chairman for the timely release of the funds, describing the gesture as a demonstration of visionary leadership and unwavering support for indigenous professionals.
