A group known as Rivers First Initiative, has endorsed the lawmaker representing Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency, Rep. Ogundu Kingsley Chinda, as its preferred candidate for governor of Rivers State.
The group made its position known during a meeting and the inauguration of its executives in Port Harcourt.
According to the initiative, its mission is to redirect Rivers State in the right direction by promoting leadership capable of addressing the state’s challenges and advancing the interests of its people.
The group also called for the abolition of the zoning system in Rivers State politics, arguing that political leadership should be based on competence, capacity and the ability to deliver good governance rather than geographical considerations.
It said the endorsement of Chinda was based on its assessment of his leadership qualities, experience and capacity to contribute to the development of the state.
