Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has announced that residents must learn to live with coronavirus until a vaccine is discovered.
The governor made this known in a state-wide broadcast marking the one year anniversary of his second tenure in office, on Friday. He said it is unfortunate that the quick and speedy emergency response of the government has not curbed the spread of the virus in the state.
Gov. Wike noted that the virus has brought pain, sorrow and distraction on humanity since the last 6 months. He prayed for the quick success of global search for the cure of the virus which has killed thousands of persons globally.
The governor also said that the responsibility is on everyone to strictly comply with the directives of the government in curbing the spread of the virus in the state. He urged residents to continue practicing good respiratory hygiene while noting that the government will not fail to deal decisively with anyone caught flouting the directives of the state.
