The Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba has charged Police officers in Rivers State and the South South region to courageously defend themselves against armed gunmen.
The IGP, said this during the launch of a new security action plan named ‘Operation Restore Peace’ in the South South region, in Port Harcourt, on Wednesday.
He advised the officers not to wait for the assailants at their stations, as they should go out and attack them the way they are being attacked.
“I urge you to defend yourselves courageously against any armed group that is out to hunt you and destroy our assets. Don’t wait for them in police stations. Go out and look for them as they are looking for you and deal with them decisively,” he said.
“They have places where they gather and sleep. Look for those places and descend on them. Do not spare them,” the IGP added.
In addition, he urged the officers to professionally discharge their duties without fear or favor.
